FCM Welcomes 50 Business Women to Mindful seminar

FCM was delighted to welcome over 50 women at its recent Women in Business seminar, An Evening with Debbie Leafe, on Thursday 12th October – working partnership with Smith Partnership Solicitors and the Burton & District Chamber of Commerce.

The Women in Business partnership, celebrating its third anniversary in 2017, has welcomed over 150 women during the year at its seminars; offering networking events with practical tools to make new business connections, and gain skills to improve mind, body and soul.

The latest event on 12th October, An Evening with Debbie Leafe, held at The Mercure Newton Park Hotel, offered 50 local business women the chance to gain vital insight from local empowerment coach Debbie Leafe, as to how they can use mindfulness in their daily lives.

Women in Business founding partner, Claire Twells, Partner at Smith Partnership Solicitors said: “We were so pleased to welcome Debbie Leafe at our evening event - she offered a truly serine evening creating some therapeutic mindful moments, where we all enjoyed some much needed meditation.

“At the end of the evening, following a delicious two course dinner, we were also very pleased to raise £130 for a fabulous local charity Every Cloud, who buy bespoke gifts for people under-going breast cancer treatment. Thanks to all the local businesses that donated prizes!”

Debbie Leafe, MindFit Coaching said: “I was blown away by the response from the ladies at the event last week. I hope my mindful tools and techniques will help them to deal more skilfully with their thoughts and emotions and reduce their stress, anxiety and even illness.

“My work involves using mindful thought processes, meditation and yoga techniques for both men and women from across all types of working environments, from engineers to solicitors! I believe anyone can use mindfulness to gain more clarity, improve relationships, achieve better results for their business, and make better decisions around their work life balance.”

Here are a few of Debbie’s suggestions to create mindful moments each day:

Have a mindful shower / Take a mindful walk / Eat your lunch mindfully / Set a timer and have a mindful minute / Start the day with a mindful meditation / Have a mindful hug

Karen McElroy, Director of FCM Associates and Women in Business partner concluded: “FCM is proud to have been promoting Women in Business since 2014 and we believe by creating this special evening event in the autumn each year, we can offer a different kind of networking experience, to compliment the range of skills training and networking sessions across the year.

“Debbie was an amazing speaker and we all felt very relaxed and re-energised by her talk. We are looking ahead to 2018 to create even more interesting and interactive events to develop and grow our network, by learning new skills to inspire and support each other!”
