Brief

FCM was asked by the Burton & District Chamber of Commerce to provide PR expertise to help generate awareness in the regional media for its exciting new Women in Business programme which offers women:

•    An alternative to traditional male dominated networking events
•    Support from other like minded business women in the region
•    The opportunity to grow their businesses through building new contacts and business leads

Plan of action

FCM worked with the project team to develop a PR plan, including key messages for the new programme and took the opportunity to link the launch to International Women’s Day, a significant occasion which is celebrated across the world.

The PR Plan ensured all regional media opportunities were maximised and that support materials reflected the messages associated with the programme.

FCM carried out research to identify relevant data that supported the growth of women in business and this was used within press releases.   Women in Business facts were tweeted regularly on local business hours and created an online buzz around the event.

Key PR activity included participating in creative planning sessions, writing pre and post event press releases, liaising with key regional business editors, attending the event and co-ordinating photographers and a film crew on the day.

The results

Burton & District Chamber of Commerce was delighted with the results and has since named FCM as an official Event Partner for the Women in Business event.

The programme was featured in the following regional media:

•    Burton Mail (4 x pieces of feature coverage) (Circulation: 85,568)
•    Staffordshire Life (Social pages coverage) (Circulation: 18,864)
•    Midlands Business News on-line (Readership: 30,000 per month)
•    Burton TV News on-line

The FCM Team has continued its success promoting Women in Business by creating a real buzz in the regional media before and after each event!
